Business

It’s stating the obvious, but Michigan needs jobs.  My vision is for a business climate in Michigan that rewards inventiveness, efficiency, and hard work rather than stifling growth and development.  Taxes and restrictions chain business up.  Help me unleash Michigan businesses for growth.

Jobs

Michigan’s unemployment rate is 1% - 2% above the national rate.  We can do better.  As Michigan businesses continue to adjust to the changes in the global marketplace, Michigan government must ensure policies that promote jobs in all sectors of our economy.

Education

Education hits close to home for me.  I teach.  We must value teachers who, next to parents, have the most influence for the success of our children.  We need to reward parents who help their kids succeed and stay in school with a tax break.  We can believe that poverty limits education, or as I prefer, Education limits poverty.  Michigan should promote high academic standards and reward parents and teachers who demonstrate proficiency.

Taxes

Some people see more taxes and bigger government as the solution to problems.  I see taxes and bigger government as the problem.  It will be my goal as a Representative to keep YOUR MONEY in YOUR POCKET.  Individuals make the best choices in how to use their own money.  Let’s cut taxes and make government more efficient.

Life

I’m a pro-life candidate.  The only exception would be in the extreme situation where the life of the mother would be in danger.  Some people view human population as a problem.  I see potential.

Environment

Most people view the U.P. as God’s Country.  I agree (except when we get 20” of snow in an April blizzard)!  As your representative, it would be my goal to promote the wise use of the district’s resources in order to maintain our standard of living.  The balanced use of our resources while maintaining a safe, healthy, living environment is common sense. 

2nd Amendment

I’m a strong advocate of the right of individuals to protect themselves, their families, and their property.  The shooting sports are an important and valuable part of our culture and economy.  What more can I say?

Marriage

I believe that marriage by definition is a religious belief and historic practice between a man and a woman.  I do not support same-sex unions.
